The Pedagogical Council is the pedagogical management body of the University, respecting the strategic guidelines of the University Council and the competences of the Rector.
1. In general, the Pedagogical Council is responsible for promoting the development and innovation of the University's pedagogical activities, the articulation of teaching, research and extension activities, curricular integration and the development of students' competences, in accordance with the present Statutes and the applicable Regulations.
2. In particular, the Pedagogical Council is responsible for
- To draw up the University's pedagogical activities plan, promote its implementation and ensure its evaluation;
- To promote the development of teachers' pedagogical and didactic skills, in accordance with the requirements of contemporary university pedagogy;
- To issue an opinion on the regulations and curricular plans of the courses;
- To give its opinion on the allocation of curricular units to teachers, the curricular unit programs, the evaluation of teaching activities, and the teachers' performance;
- To decide on the calendar of each academic year of the Uni-CV;
- To monitor the implementation of the pedagogical activities plan, in liaison with the course coordination structures;
- To organize the monitoring and the technical-pedagogical support to teachers and students, ensuring an innovative curricular management and the maximization of the academic results;
- Promote forums for discussion, dissemination of studies and dissemination of good practices in the pedagogical field and seek solutions to problems of a pedagogical-didactic nature;
- To pronounce and issue suggestions about the use of common services existing in the Uni-CV, in order to promote the quality of pedagogical activities;
- To give its opinion about the organization and orientation of the activities of the Academic, Social Action, Technical and other Services that contribute to the quality of education and the academic success of students;
- To present and propose to the competent entities the support to pedagogical, extension and or circum-school projects;
- To approve the respective Regulations and submit them to the University Council for ratification; and
- To perform other functions that may be assigned to it under the terms of the regulations or by deliberation of the University Council.
3. The powers of the Pedagogical Council shall be exercised, at the level of Faculties and Schools, by Pedagogical Committees specialized according to the subject matter, under the terms and conditions to be defined in the University's organic regulations, internal regulations, and deliberations of the Pedagogical Council.
4. Without prejudice to the provisions of the previous number, the specialized Pedagogical Committees shall be responsible for assessing and issuing opinions on course curricular projects, curricular unit programs, faculty performance evaluation processes, plans and reports on academic activities of the Colleges and Schools, and other matters submitted to them by the Presidents of these organic units.
5. The specialized Pedagogical Committees may cover one or more Schools or Faculties, depending on the affinities of these organic units and on the existing conditions, under the terms mentioned in the final part of the previous number.
6. Without prejudice to their connection to the Pedagogical Council, the specialized Pedagogical Commissions exercise their attributions in articulation with the internal bodies of the Colleges and Schools.

The Scientific Council is the scientific management body of the University, acting in compliance with the strategic guidelines of the University Council and the Rector's competences.
1. In general, the Scientific Council is responsible for promoting the scientific and technological improvement of teaching and research activities, as well as for defining and monitoring the University's scientific quality policy, in accordance with the present Statutes and the applicable Regulations.
2. The Scientific Council is responsible, namely, for
- Defining the strategic guidelines for the University's scientific activity;
- Issuing opinions on academic, scientific and technological products;
- Approve the scientific activity plan of the Uni-CV;
- To establish rules for granting degrees and titles, as well as equivalences of national or foreign qualifications;
- To approve the rules for the attribution of honorary titles of the University and the entities to be honored;
- To issue opinions regarding the creation, suspension, and extinction of courses of study;
- To issue opinions about the creation, suspension, and extinction of teaching, research, and extension organic units, as well as of research structures;
- To formulate proposals or opinions about the plans for training and specialization of the teaching staff;
- To issue a reasoned opinion about proposals for the recruitment of teachers by invitation or for the renewal of contracts of visiting teachers; and
- To issue its opinion about the rules for the recruitment of teachers by competitive examination.
3. The Scientific Council is also responsible for
- Advising the Rector in the governance of the University in all matters the latter may wish to submit to him;
- Approving the respective regulations and submitting them to the University Council for ratification;
- Approve juries of competitive examinations for the promotion of associate and full professors.
4. The competences of the Scientific Council are exercised, at the level of Faculties and Schools, by specialized Scientific Committees according to the subject under the terms and conditions to be defined in the University's organic regulation, in the internal regulations, and in deliberations of the Scientific Council.
5. Without prejudice to the provisions in the previous number, the specialized Scientific Committees shall be responsible for assessing and issuing opinions on course curricular projects, curricular unit programs, faculty performance evaluation processes, plans and reports on academic activities of the Colleges and Schools, and other matters submitted to them by the Presidents of these organic units.
6. The specialized Scientific Committees referred to in the previous number may cover one or more Schools or Faculties, depending on the affinities of these organic units and on the existing conditions, under the terms referred to in the final part of the previous number.
7. Without prejudice to their attachment to the Scientific Council, the specialized committees exercise their duties in articulation with the internal bodies of the Colleges and Schools.

The University Council is the strategic decision-making and supervisory body of the University
1. The University Council is responsible for
- Approve the strategy and development proposals of the Uni-CV;
- To approve the measures that ensure the articulated functioning among the organic units
- To approve the proposals for the creation, alteration, suspension or extinction of courses from the organic units;
- To approve the proposals for the creation, integration, modification or extinction of organic units in the University's structures;
- To approve the academic calendar;
- To propose amendments to the present Statutes and to submit them to the superintendence governmental body under the terms of the law;
- Approve the Regulations of the Uni-CV and ratify the regulations of the other collegial bodies;
- Approve the provisional management instruments, the annual plan of activities and accountability of the Uni-CV, namely the annual report of activities;
- Approving the attribution of an Honorary Doctorate degree to entities of recognized merit, either for their academic career, scientific work, benevolent intervention in relation to the Uni-CV or to Cape Verde, or any other justifiable reason for such a decision; and
- To pronounce on any matter that, not falling within the specific competence of any other Uni-CV organ, is presented to it by the Rector.
2. In addition to the provisions of the Rector's own competencies, the University Council may delegate regulatory powers to the Rector with a view to an efficient and effective management of the University.
Faculties: teaching, research, and extension units in the scientific and technological domains that are part of close or related areas of knowledge.
Schools: teaching, research, and extension units in the scientific and technological domains that aggregate areas of knowledge with marked specificity.
